A group in support of the candidacy of a presidential hopeful of the All Progressives Congress (APC) , Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has dismissed media reports which claim that former governor of Lagos State and a national leader of APC, Senator Bola Tinubu has chosen to support another APC presidential hopeful, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (rtd) as the opposition party’s presidential flag bearer at 2015 polls.
The group, Turaki Vanguard through its National President, Mr. Oladimeji Fabiyi said the report making the rounds is not but mere rumour.
According to him, Tinubu is a serious stakeholder in APC and Nigerian politics, therefore deserved to be consulted by any presidential aspirants, especially that of APC and that should not be taken as support for the aspirant.
He argued that Atiku and Tinubu have had a long political relationship that pre-dates APC and there is no way Tinubu would just jettison that easily.
Fabiyi said: ”First and foremost l want to say that my principal, Atiku Abubakar has declared his intention to run for the presidency of this country just recently and there and then he rolled out his programme and his vision for the country.”
