After attending the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), President Bola Tinubu left New York on Thursday.
According to Naija News, while in New York, Tinubu addressed international leaders during the session and emphasized the problems facing Africa, such as the forced migration, human trafficking, and climate disaster.
Additionally, he took part in a number of high-profile activities, such as one-on-one meetings with world leaders including Cyril Ramaphosa, the president of South Africa, and others.
Additionally, he had meetings with King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein of Jordan, President Joo Manuel of Angola, a delegation from ExxonMobil led by Liam Mallon, President of Global Upstream Operations, and the King of Angola.
At a town hall meeting on Wednesday, President Tinubu spoke with several Nigerian expatriates and urged them to return home, pointing out that there are many economic prospects in Nigeria.
After speaking with Nigerians, he met with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and announced that African countries will begin to take proper action against individuals who illegally steal and smuggle out the rich mineral wealth of the continent.
The Nigerian president informed the head of the UN that operations against individuals who smuggle Western-made weapons and resources out of Africa have been discouraged by the use of human rights.
He was the first African leader to ring the bell at the National Association of Securities Dealers Automatic Quotation System (NASDAQ) on Thursday.
