Ordinarily we Nigerian are not golf fans, most of us the generation 80’s probably started following golf in the 90’s due to that dark skinned Thai-American, with the Nike Polo top, sweats and Fez cap.
Avid followers were we that he became our darling and probably the only name we knew in the Sports. The romance with the Richie-rich game continued as long as our man soared, breaking the limits, pushing others, raking in laurels. Then the unimaginable happened by the standard of his culture- he sleeps with another woman. A crime ever Alhaji and Senator commits here with impunity.
He becomes an emotional wreck and his days of glory become a mirage. Our guy is down, we all lose interest, golf becomes a thing of the past. But silently we wish our man could put his acts together. He has done just that and I guess a lot of us will be happy reading this.
After a two-and-a-half-year winless streak, former foremost Golf icon, Tiger Woods, seems to be back to winning ways.
Woods ended the jinx as he stormed to victory in the Arnold Palmer invitational at Bay Hill.
The former world number one shot a final round 70 to finish at 13-under-par at the Bay Hill course in Orlando, Florida, where has won six times before.
The American claimed his 72nd US PGA Tour title and his first since the BMW Championship in September 2009.
“It does feel good. It feels really good. It has been a lot of hard work,” Woods said.
“I am so thankful for a lot of people helping me along the way, they know who they are.”
Woods dip in form and fall from grass to grace began after sordid details began that the master golfer was unfaithful to his wife.
Only time will tell if this a resurgence in form or a flash in the pan.
