Hired political thugs on Saturday attacked the acting governor of Taraba State, Alhaji Sani Danladi Abubakar in Karim Lamido local government area of the state during a campaign rally.
The thugs invaded the campaign rally organised by PDP to canvass vote for the party’s governorship candidate, Arc. Darius Ishaku, manhandling Alhaji Abubakar Bonanza who was addressing the rally down.
Our correspondent learnt that the situation went out of hand when the policemen attached to the acting governor resulted to the use of tear gas to disperse the thugs who were chanting “no to PDP, no to PDP.”
The attack on PDP in Karim Lamido, the acting governor’s local government by the hoodlums of the area was said to be the handiwork of some aggrieved PDP members from the local government.
When contacted, the chief press secretary to the acting governor, Alhaji Hassan Mijinyawa denied that Danladi was attacked by the thugs.
He stressed that it was two PDP political groups that had little misunderstanding.
He noted that it was one person who was said to be loyal to the Hon member from the Karim-Lamido LGA at the state house of assembly that went to drag one Alhaji Abubakar Bonanza who was addressing PDP supporters at the rally down from the podium.
“The acting governor’s phone was not stolen and nobody attacked him during the campaign rally at Karim” he said.
