Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State, yesterday, said the worth of Lagos economy was still a secret yet to be discovered by the world. He said only few people had discovered the true value of the economy of Lagos, the fastest African emerging megacity.

Fashola spoke at the launch of the Book titled “Lagos: Historical and Cultural,” authored by Mr. Kaye Whiteman, at the Muson Centre, Onikan.

This came barely 24 hours after the governor said the Lagos economy was rated above Ghana and the United Kingdom.

Fashola said: “Those who find it fail to disclose what lies in it. While many complained, they continued making returns and tapping the energy. This is where the Nigerian’s dream is best expressed.”

This is where all our possibilities lie. This is where the indigenes cannot give full account of the story of the state. Everyone in the entire 36 states of Nigeria has part of Lagos with them. That is why anyone in the country can tell a story about Lagos.”

In his goodwill message, the Publisher of BusinessDay newspapers, Mr. Frank Aigbogun, described Mr. Kaye Whiteman, as a foreigner who loved Nigeria, but “whose love is not tied to his practice of journalism. He is a man who writes with affection about Nigeria and knows Nigeria and Lagos more than many Nigerians do. He is one of the best friends of the country.”

In his remarks, the author, Mr Kaye Whiteman, acknowledged the role played by the Lagos State Governor in transforming the state, adding that he saw a marked improvement in infrastructure.
