On Friday, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, or EFCC, announced the arrest of two suspected currency counterfeiters in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.
The suspects were identified as Johnson Olumoyegun and Tanko Abubakar in a statement issued by EFCC spokesman Wilson Uwajeren.
He stated that the suspects were apprehended with fake $270,000 on October 6 and 7, 2022 in Kubwa and Area 3 of the nation’s capital (Two Hundred and Seventy Thousand United States Dollars).
“In addition, Olumoyegun impersonated an EFCC officer, using a forged EFCC ID card bearing the name Solomon David.” He was also carrying an ECOWAS passport bearing the name Isa Bello.
“The two suspects will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded”, the statement added.
