Fear in the minds of students of Delta State University, Oleh campus, following the withdrawal of the accreditation of the institution’s Faculty of Law by the Nigeria University Commission, NUC.
It will be recalled that the Faculty of Engineering, the other faculty in the campus, lost its accreditation about four years ago, eliciting fears in the Oleh community that the campus may be scrapped.
Reacting to the development, the President, Law Students Association of Nigeria, LAWSAN, Oleh campus, Mr. Desmond Orisewezie, appealed to the state government “to do its best to partner the university authority to ensure the prompt accreditation of the two faculties in the campus.
“Engineering has lost its accreditation, and now Law Faculty. If the issue is left like that, it means that the campus will be closed which will not be fair, because psychologically, it is going to have effect on the students.”
Speaking on the issue Mr. Oghenemine Djebah, a 400 level student of the Faculty of Law, appealed to the state governor to look into the various areas of need identified by NUC to enable the two faculties to regain full accreditation.
