Officers of the Lagos State Police Command are currently quizzing a 28-year-old man, identified as Julius Sylvester, for allegedly defiling his landlord’s nine-year-old daughter (names withheld).
It was gathered that the incident occurred at Obafalabi Street, Ojudu Berger, Lagos State.
It was learnt that Sylvester used to send the girl on errands before the ugly incident.
According to reports, at about 4pm that fateful day, Sylvester sent the victim to buy food from a local food vendor. When she came back with the food, he reportedly pulled her pants and had carnal knowledge of her. After the incident, the girl was said to have come out of Sylvester’s room walking with difficulty.
However, trouble started when the victim’s mother on noticing how she was walking asked questions. After a little persuasion, the victim told her mother what transpired.
The victim’s mother told our correspondent that: “I noticed that something was wrong with the way my daughter was walking and I questioned her. She told me that she was playing with her friends when the suspect called her to buy food for him then forcefully had carnal knowledge of her.
“When my husband came back from work, we reported the incident at the police station and the suspect was picked up.
“Because the government hospital was on strike we had to go to a nearby hospital for test and treatment.”
Medical test on the victim confirmed that the suspect actually penetrated her, an action said to have affected her urinary tract.
The case has been transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department, Panti for further investigations.
