A six-year-old girl, studying in Class I in Vibgyor High school in Bangalore, has been gang-raped, allegedly by two teachers, police said on Thursday.
The incident took place on July 2 but was reported to police after a medical examination of girl some days ago.
The rape infuriated parents of students studying in the school, who stormed the campus and tried to break-in. When policemen present at the school tried to stop them, there was a scuffle.
As anger mounted, the school’s chairman, Rustom Kerawalla, addressing the agitated parents, said the school administration will cooperate with police in probing the incident.
“I apologise for the inconvenience caused. I extend full support to the authorities responsible for the investigation of the case. Let the guilty be hanged. We have provided CCTV footage to police and we are co-operating in all possible ways,” said Kerawalla.
He said the school would additional security to students. “Additional security will be provided from now on. I’m personally working with 10-15 parents on this. An e-mail ID will be created to take suggestions on the security measures. An each mail will be reverted,” Kerawalla said.
However, when parent asked if the incident happened in the school, he said: “The investigation is on. Let it end and then I will come to any conclusion.”
