A tragic incident unfolded in Mpumalanga, South Africa, as 32-year-old Dr. Nondumiso Nkosi was fatally shot outside the Virgin Active gym in Riverside, Mbombela, on November 20, 2024.
Dr. Nkosi, who worked at Rob Ferreira Hospital, was attacked by unidentified assailants while heading into the gym. According to Brigadier Donald Mdhluli, provincial police spokesperson, the assailants approached in a Toyota Starlet.
“The victim parked her car and got out. As she was walking towards the gym, one of the assailants exited the vehicle and shot her three times before fleeing the scene. Nothing was stolen,” Mdhluli stated.
Emergency services declared Dr. Nkosi dead at the scene.
The family, represented by Sydney Nkosi, has requested privacy as they cope with the loss. Police investigations into the motive and identity of the attackers are ongoing.
