Super Falcons goalkeeper Yewande Balogun has announced her decision to retire from professional football.
The 35-year-old made the announcement on social media, expressing gratitude for her journey.
“My body is signaling that it’s time to end this chapter and retire from the game, but I am thankful to God for every moment of this journey. I will forever be grateful to football for all it has given me, and I look forward to finding new ways to give back. Thank you all for your love and support,” she shared on Instagram.
Balogun’s most recent club was French D1 Arkema team Saint-Étienne.
She was also part of the Super Falcons squad at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, making one appearance for the team.
