Evelyn Anyadime, the presiding judge of a federal high court sitting in Kano has ordered that former governor of Jigawa state, Sule Lamido, and his two sons remain in custody at the Kano prison till September.

The judge handed out this judgement to the three standing trial over 28-count charges filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) against them on Thursday.

Lamido, his sons Aminu Sule Lamido, Mustapha Sule Lamido and one Aminu Wada Abubakar allegedly received  N1.35 billion kickback from a government contractor, the lead prosecutor also told the court.

The accused persons were taken to Kano prisons amid tight security while hundreds of youths stormed the court premises chanting solidarity songs and alleging that Lamido is being politically persecuted.

The three are standing are standing trial over 28-count charges filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
