A student of the University of Abuja reportedly tried to commit suicide student because of the effects of the ongoing Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) strike, Daily Post reports.
Jane Okora, sent her two younger brothers out of the house on an errand, and on their return they found her on the floor with a rope tied around her neck. He raised an alarm and when neighbours came to help they discovered that Jane was still alive.
Jane’s mother said that all Jane was complaining was about how the ASUUstrike was inconveniencing her as she felt that she should have finished with her studies already and begun to take care of her family but her life was put on hold because of the strike.
