On Wednesday, an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court remanded Nduka Kalu, a 24-year-old student who is accused of luring a minor to a hotel and defiling her.
Mrs. Bola Osunsanmi, the Chief Magistrate, rejected the defendant’s plea.
She said that she required the director of public prosecutions’ opinion.
In the interim, Kalu was to be confined at the Kirikiri detention center, per Osunsanmi’s directive.
Defilement is alleged against the defendant, a resident of 4, Petidabo St., Shomolu, Lagos State.
SP Raji Akeem, the prosecutor, had previously informed the court that Kalu had committed the crime on August 14 at the Villa Hotel in Shasha, Lagos State.

Akeem claims that the accused enticed the 14-year-old, whom he had met on Facebook, to the hotel under the pretense of assisting her in realizing her dream of becoming an actress and model.
According to the prosecutor, the defendant violated the minor while doing so.
The prosecution claims that the offense violates Section 137 of the Lagos State Criminal Law from 2015.
The case was postponed by the chief magistrate until October 19 for mention.
