Popular singer Speed Darlington has lashed out at supporters of VeryDarkMan who are urging him to join the ongoing “Free VDM” protests.
As many may recall, activist VeryDarkMan was reportedly arrested on Friday, allegedly by the EFCC, prompting street demonstrations by Nigerian youths demanding his release.
During a recent Instagram live session, Speed Darlington reacted angrily after being asked to show solidarity. He questioned why no one protested for him when he was previously detained, expressing frustration over the perceived double standard.
“How many of you protested when I was locked up? God punish you! You come to my page to disrespect me. Meanwhile, your mates are out there hustling and trying to build a life,” he ranted.
The video has sparked a wave of reactions online:
@nbachaselee_ commented: “VDM supported Akpi during his time in jail.”
@obaino_ added: “People who say he’s not important and that’s why no one protested for him—then why go to his page to ask him to protest? He was unjustly detained for weeks while others made a joke of it.”
