Nigerian singer Darlington Okoye, popularly known as Speed Darlington, is set to leave Abuja just hours after his release from detention.
The news of his release was confirmed on Tuesday, January 21, by his lawyer, Stan Alieke.
Alieke shared the update alongside several photos of himself with Speed Darlington in his office, celebrating the singer’s freedom.
Another well-known activist, Adeyanju, posted images from Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport, where he had accompanied Speed Darlington as he prepared to depart the federal capital territory.
One of the photos showed the singer smiling, a stark contrast to the serious demeanor he displayed in earlier pictures after his release.
In a post on his X account (formerly Twitter), Adeyanju wrote: “Just dropped off Akpi at the airport,” sharing snapshots from the moment.
