Controversial rapper Speed Darlington has stirred more backlash after a new video surfaced showing him boasting about preferring women in New York over those in Lagos, Nigeria.
The self-proclaimed “energy god,” who was recently declared wanted by the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) for allegedly engaging in unlawful relations with a minor, reportedly fled Nigeria and returned to the United States following the development.
In the video, Speed Darlington openly mocked Nigerian women, claiming they are only interested in money, while praising New York women as being more focused on love and emotional connection.
In his words: “I left Lagos girl for New York girls. I thought they were better. This people dey do love. Our own people na ‘give me money, give me money’.”
Social Media Reactions:

@tsetseSBM said: “Speed Darlington never fails to entertain. But running off to New York won’t erase NAPTIP’s case. You’ll still have to face the law when you return.”
@donaldson20220 wrote: “Any Igbo person supporting this guy isn’t truly Igbo. We condemn such acts, especially from someone being pursued over something so serious.”
