Mudashiru Obasa, the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, won Saturday’s House of Assembly election in Agege Constituency 1.
Obasa won the constituency by a landslide, according to the results announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, on Sunday morning.
Raheem Rasaki Alabi of the Labour Party came in second with 3,933 votes, while the Peoples Democratic Party’s candidate came in third with 1,609 votes.
Kafayat Morenikeji of the ADC finished fourth with 62 votes, while Olubunmi Michael of the SDP received 55 votes to finish fifth, and Odusami Oladipupo of the ADP received 51 votes to finish sixth.
Olusanya Oluwasesan of the NNPP received 35 votes, while Rojaye Abdulsheriff Babajide of Party A received 29 votes to finish last.
The INEC’s returning officer stated:
“That Obasa Mudashiru of APC, having satisfied the requirement of the law is hereby declared the winner and is returned elected.”
With the victory, Obasa is returning to the House for the sixth time, setting a record as the longest-serving lawmaker of the State Assembly.
