Human rights activist Omoyele Sowore has explained why he is standing firmly behind actress Regina Daniels as tensions rise between her and her estranged husband, Senator Ned Nwoko.
Sowore, who became involved after the arrest of Regina’s brother Sammy later freed claims Nwoko had allegedly been working against Regina and her family. As someone who fights for justice, he said he couldn’t ignore the situation.
According to Sowore, the senator had reportedly planned to arrest Regina’s mother and had gained access to her phone conversations, intending to use the information against her. He also alleged that Nwoko wanted to leak her private matters and personal plans to the public.
Clarifying his position, Sowore stated:
“I fight for human rights regardless of whether you support me or not. Your support or love for me is not a condition for me to create a society that is fair. I hate it when people use their power… to punish people because they think they can get away with it.”
He stressed that his actions are driven by principle, not popularity, and that no one deserves to be unfairly targeted or silenced for personal reasons.
The accusations have stirred strong reactions online. Some Nigerians commended Sowore for staying consistent in his activism, while others expressed surprise at the claims made against Nwoko.
Sowore maintains that justice for Regina Daniels and her family remains his priority, and he vowed not to step back until Ned Nwoko is fully held responsible for the alleged wrongdoing.
