Tobi Makinde has addressed rumours suggesting a fallout between him and his senior colleague, Funke Akindele.
Speculation about a rift between the two began months ago after a viral video showed them seemingly ignoring each other at an event. The situation sparked conversations online, especially given their close working relationship on Jenifa’s Diary.
During an interview with BBC Pidgin, Makinde spoke on the issue, dismissing the idea of any serious conflict. He explained that his connection with Akindele began on social media and insisted it wouldn’t end there.
According to him, social media often creates misleading narratives. Referring to her respectfully as “madam,” he added that growth can sometimes create distance in relationships, but that does not erase the bond they share.
Makinde emphasised that Akindele remains an important figure in his career and someone who will always be part of his journey in the film industry.
He also reflected on his personal growth, revealing that his acting journey started at the age of seven after his father introduced him to a film producer.
Speaking on challenges in the industry, he noted that attending auditions without feedback is one of the toughest parts of being an actor, as many producers fail to follow up after making promises.
His comments have since generated mixed reactions online, with fans sharing different opinions about his relationship with Akindele.
