Popular musician Seun Kuti sparked conversation online after declaring that human rights activist Omoyele Sowore is more capable than Peter Obi.
The Afrobeat singer made the statement during a live session with fans. When asked who he believed was more competent between Sowore and Peter Obi, Seun didn’t hesitate to say Sowore was the better choice.
He added that even the fan who asked the question might be more suitable than Obi, stressing his frustration with the country’s leadership and how some bad actors hide behind respectable identities to carry out wrongdoing.
See how people reacted:
@chi_chi_maria commented: “People need to stop being tribalistic. I’m Igbo and I support Sowore because his ideas are solid and well thought out. He’s been advocating for meaningful reform for a long time, while Peter Obi had his chance and didn’t deliver. Now he’s back with the same promises. Wake up!”
@AMADIOHA01 said: “The South-West keeps targeting Peter Obi, both on personal and media levels. Seun called out Fulani terrorist herders, but @OneJoblessBoy is more focused on discrediting Obi than addressing ongoing violence—maybe because he thinks he’s safe.”
@folamiyi added: “People aren’t paying attention. I supported Obi in the last election, but I’ve realized he’s not a true politician—just someone looking for a chance. Compare him to Tinubu, who fought hard as the opposition to grab power. The same can’t be said for Obi.”
