The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced scheduled power outages in some areas of the Federal Capital Territory over the weekend due to maintenance on transmission lines.
In a statement released on Saturday morning, Mrs. Ndidi Mbah, the General Manager of Public Affairs, explained that the maintenance is aimed at enhancing service delivery.
According to the statement, Gwagwalada will experience a power outage on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. while maintenance work is conducted.
Similarly, on Sunday, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., power will be disrupted in Wuye, EFCC, Federal Medical Centre, Coca-Cola, Idu Railway Station, Citec, and Life Camp as part of ongoing maintenance.
Mrs. Mbah urged residents in the affected areas to cooperate during the exercise.
The statement further clarified that on Saturday, December 28, 2024, maintenance will be carried out on a 60MVA power transformer and its associated switchgears at the Gwagwalada 330/132/33kV Transmission Substation, which will cause a four-hour power interruption in Gwagwalada and surrounding areas.
On Sunday, December 29, 2024, from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m., maintenance will be conducted on one of the 60MVA transformers at the Kukwaba 132/33kV Transmission Substation, affecting power supply in Wuye, EFCC, Federal Medical Centre, Coca-Cola, Idu Railway Station, Citec, and Life Camp.
TCN apologized for any inconvenience caused, especially during the festive season, emphasizing that the maintenance is essential for optimal equipment performance.
