Nollywood actress and popular social media influencer Sarah Martins has raised the alarm over what she describes as persistent harassment and threats to her life from a dispatch rider she once tried to assist.
Taking to her official Instagram page, the movie star recounted the troubled history between herself and the rider. According to Sarah, the friction began during an earlier encounter when she reported him to his employers following an alleged incident of harassment after a delivery. Although the rider was suspended, he reportedly claimed he had been sacked, prompting public backlash against the actress.
From Public Backlash to a Gesture of Goodwill
In a bid to resolve the tension and out of pity, Sarah reached out to the dispatch rider. She revealed that she went as far as taking him out for lunch and shopping. However, she soon began to notice what she described as an “entitled attitude” and chose to distance herself.
The situation escalated further after a generous fan gifted a motorcycle to the actress to be handed over to the rider. Sarah explained that the motorcycle required significant work, with repairs estimated at ₦150,000 and painting costing around ₦350,000. She agreed to cover the repair bills but advised him to wait until the maintenance was completed before taking possession of the bike.
According to Sarah, the rider grew impatient and insisted on taking the motorcycle immediately. Obliging his request, she handed over the bike along with ₦20,000 in cash, requesting a few days to send the remaining balance for repairs after settling the monthly salaries of her 13 staff members.
Allegations of Abuse and Marriage-Shaming
Instead of understanding, Sarah claims the rider began hounding her with endless phone calls and highly offensive messages when she did not pick up.
“This guy started calling me as if I was owing him. When I stopped picking his call, he started sending me messages, insulting me, marriage-shaming me, saying, ‘That’s why I no go ever see husband,'” she stated.
Expressing deep concern for her personal safety, Sarah issued a stern, final public warning to the rider to cease all contact with her.
“I feel like my life is under threat. This is a direct warning to you. If you ever send me any message like this again, I will use every connection I have to deal with you,” the actress concluded.
