Sam Smith and their partner, Christian Cowan, have reportedly gotten engaged after being together for over three years.
The couple attended the Met Gala 2026 on Monday, May 4, and were said to have spoken about their engagement at the Mark Hotel before stepping onto the red carpet, according to reports.
A source revealed that the proposal was kept private and that the pair are deeply in love and excited about this new chapter.
Smith, who identifies as non-binary and uses they/them pronouns, later shared photos of their outfits on Instagram, including a caption quoting Cowan about the inspiration behind the look.
“I have always loved Erté. I love the way he brought costume art to the world through his visionary illustrations.
“The infamous 1920s opulence and craft. 255,000 individual crystals and beads. 2,000 hours of artisanal hand sewing. This look is a love letter to the king of fashion illustration, and to my love, Sam.”
The couple were first linked in December 2022 when they attended an event at the White House where then-President Joe Biden signed the Respect for Marriage Act into law.
Since then, both UK-born stars have been seen together on several occasions, including public outings in New York City, fashion events, and other appearances, often showing affection and supporting each other.
