SALES BOY BEATEN TO DEATH IN IBADAN

IBADAN – The spate of mob action in Oyo State continued yesterday evening as a sales boy was allegedly beaten to death in the Akinyele area of Ibadan, the state capital.

Since the discovery penultimate Saturday of a forest where human bones and some apparently kidnapped persons at the throes of death were kept for suspected ritual purposes, at least three persons have been lynched by a mob in different parts of the state over suspicions that they are ritualist.

The latest victim, Lukman Adebayo, whose offence could not be ascertained as at press time, was allegedly beaten with clubs.

The state police command spokesperson, SP Olabisi Ilobanafor, who confirmed the incident, said one Olumide Adeleke from the Akinyele Trailer Park, Moniya, reported that a sales boy was beaten and had been rushed to St. Patrick Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Ilobanafor said four persons, namely, Ali Lawal Garba, Garuba Bakare, Bello Muhammed and Iliyasu Bashiru had been arrested in connection with the incident.

She said after investigations have been concluded, the suspects would be charged to court for murder.
