Ahmed Lawal, a trained IT Technician doubled as a night guard, was shot dead on Wednesday morning by six men at Banji Lawal Street in the Bariga Area of Lagos State.

The killers are suspected to be armed robbers terrorising the Bariga Area.

According to a colleague of the deceased’s: “We had just closed for the day and we were leaving for our different homes when all of a sudden we saw six boys marching towards our direction.

“It was as if they noticed we were the security men. One of them brought out a gun and shot at us with the bullet hitting Ahmed. People in the vicinity had to run for cover as it was just 5.30 am. They shot several rounds and escaped.

“I later called for help. When our supervisors came we took Ahmed to the General Hospital Gbagada. He was bleeding profusely through the head and other places.”

The witness said that the hospital refused to accept him because they were on strike.

“We took him to the General Hospital Somolu and before we could get to LUTH he gave up the ghost.”

According to a police source, the 30-year old victim who was a native of Imodi Imosan in Ogun State, was a member of the OPC who was employed as a night Guard by the residents of Banji Lawal Street.
