Professor Jibril Aminu, a former Nigerian senator and diplomat, has passed away at the age of 85. He died on Wednesday in Abuja following a prolonged illness.
Aminu was Nigeria’s Ambassador to the United States between 1999 and 2003. He later served as the senator representing Adamawa Central from 2003 to 2011.
A distinguished cardiologist, Professor Aminu obtained his first medical degree from the University of Ibadan in 1965 and later earned a PhD in medicine from the Royal Postgraduate Medical School, London, in 1972.
He is survived by his two wives and nine children.
