Psychology graduate becomes best ever graduating student of UNILAG, with 5.00 CGPA

Authorities of the University of Lagos on Wednesday, declared a Psychology student, Ayodele Dada, as the best graduating student the institution ever had.

Dada scored a Cumulative Grade Point Average of 5.00.

No candidate has ever obtained the grade in the annals of the 54-year-old university.

The Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Rahamon Bello, made this known on Wednesday while unfolding programmes for the institution’s 48th convocation ceremonies.

Bello said, “This year, a record has been set. A graduating student in the department of Psychology, Faculty of Sciences, Mr. Ayodele Dada, is graduating with a CGPA of 5.00. This is a perfect score. This means he scored As in all courses he took in the programme. I congratulate Mr. Dada and the members of staff of the Department of Psychology for this feat.”

Apart from Dada, the VC noted that 177 other candidates obtained First Class while 71 persons obtained PhD degrees.

Bello stated that 1,617 candidates obtained Second Class Upper degree.

He added, “A total of 2,496 others will be graduating in the Second Class Lower division, 884 in the Third Class and 274 in unclassified degrees in Medical Sciences and Pharmacy and 50 had pass degree.”

Of the 11 faculties, he said that the Faculty of Engineering topped the performance register with 41 First Class graduating students.
