In an emotional birthday message released on Monday, September 21, the president expressed his profound gratitude to the first lady, stating that she has stood by him with patience, grace, and remarkable courage throughout their decades of marriage. Invoking a well-known Yoruba proverb, “Iyawo rere ni ade oko re,” which translates to “a good wife is her husband’s crown,” President Tinubu highlighted how she has brought both that proverb and the biblical description of a virtuous woman to life.
A Shared Journey and Deep Connection
Reflecting on their lengthy journey together, President Tinubu acknowledged that there were times when his personal burdens shifted to her shoulders, and moments when she understood his unspoken thoughts. He expressed absolute certainty that, if given the chance to begin his life journey over again, he would choose her as his partner every time.

Beyond their private life, the president praised the first lady for her dedication to the welfare of Nigerians. Recently, she announced a 1 billion Naira intervention fund on behalf of the Renewed Hope Initiative to support families affected by devastating floods in the Mokwa local government area of Niger State. The donation was made during her condolence visit to the state capital, Minna.
