The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike has been encouraged by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to complete the metro line project in the nation’s capital.
According to TheCable, Tinubu instructed Wike to deliver the metro line instead of giving him any land even if he requested it. Tinubu said he would love to ride in the metro.
“I can see our main host, the Abuja landowner. Persevere; I wish to ride on your metro line. If I ask for free land, please don’t give it to me; instead, build the metro line for the benefit of the most Nigerians possible.
The abandoned Abuja light rail system will be immediately revived, according to Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike, and will be operational in a few months.
He revealed this when he bemoaned the condition of the infrastructure while inspecting the track and the rail stations.
The Abuja Rail Transit was inaugurated by the former president Muhammadu Buhari in July 2018, however it never took off.
According to the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), the demolition of unlawful structures may have an impact on 30 neighborhoods of Abuja.
Nyesom Wike, the FCT Minister, also promised that unlawful buildings in Abuja’s green spaces would be demolished.
The FCTA reported that 6,000 structures have been identified for demolition in their most recent study, and more may potentially be impacted.
