President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of the former Governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Ayodele Fayose, as the new Chairman of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA). The strategic appointment, which takes immediate effect, is part of a sweeping restructuring of several key federal boards and commissions.
According to a statement released on Monday night by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, the President also approved 25 other major appointments across ten crucial federal agencies and commissions.
The Reconstitution of the REA Board
Under the new leadership structure, Mr. Fayose will head the REA board alongside newly appointed non-executive directors Mr. Ahmadu Abubakar and Engineer Ilyasu Ibrahim Makinta. The newly constituted board also includes the incumbent Director-General of the agency, Abba Abubakar Aliyu, alongside three executive directors who were previously appointed to their roles.
Changes in the Salaries and Wages Commission
In addition to the REA appointments, President Tinubu reconstituted the National Salary and Wages Commission, naming Major General Junaid Bindawa as the new Chairman. Former member of the House of Representatives from Lagos, Olajumoke Okoya-Thomas, has been appointed as the commission’s Secretary.
The commission also welcomes a new set of state representatives serving as commissioners and members, including:
- Dr. Ogbole Ene Lilian (Benue)

Finally, Gisaor Vincent Iorja, an economist and legal scholar who was serving as the Secretary of the Benue State Independent Electoral Commission (BSIEC), has been appointed as the Executive Director of Finance at the Federal Housing Authority (FHA), filling the vacancy left by Mathias Byuan’s resignation.
