Controversial Nigerian artist, Portable, has publicly accused First Bank of attempting to kidnap him, following a troubling incident at one of the bank’s branches.
In a now-viral video shared on his Instagram, Portable claimed he narrowly escaped a kidnap attempt allegedly linked to the bank. He accused First Bank of tracking his movements, stating that his only “offence” was demanding an explanation for the sudden restriction placed on his account.
The singer, known for his dramatic reactions online, firmly denied any involvement in fraudulent activities. He maintained that the funds in question—reportedly over N400 billion—were related to legitimate business transactions.
“I’m being followed from First Bank—what did I do wrong? I don’t engage in fraud or internet scams. That’s a business account and more money is expected. All I did was ask questions. Isn’t the customer always right?” he said in a now-deleted video.
His outburst comes amid growing conversations online surrounding customer mistreatment by banks, especially following the recent arrest of social media commentator, VeryDarkMan, on Friday, May 2, after he visited a GTBank branch to report unauthorized deductions.
