The suspects were said to be a notorious robbery and car-snatching syndicate. They were killed along Nnebis Road in Asaba, Delta State.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Ali Okechukwu, explained that the Delta State Police Command had arrested and handed over one Obisma to the Anambra Special Anti-Robbery Squad.

The PPRO said the culprit named other members and confessed to series of armed robbery and vehicle-snatching operations in and outside the state.

Okechukwu said. “Obisma led our operatives to Asaba for the arrest of his accomplices and recovery of their operational weapons.”

The PPRO said the policemen were attacked by the gang members upon arrival at the robbers’ den in Asaba.

He said during the shootout that ensued, some of the suspects were gunned down.

The PPRO said, “Some, who sustained bullet injuries during the operations, are still receiving treatment in a hospital. Efforts are on to arrest other fleeing gang members.”
