The Enugu state police command stated that the effort to keep communities free of men instigating crimes is still ongoing.
This comes after the Force’s operatives apprehended four notorious criminals in less than a week and vowed they would pay for their crimes.
Meanwhile, the state police spokesperson, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, stated in a statement that the suspects are criminals who have recently disrupted the peace of residents in the area.
During that time, the operatives recovered one AK-47 rifle with 51 live 7.62mm cartridges, three locally-made Beretta pistols, one Pump Action gun, the butt of a locally-made gun, 31 live cartridges, and other incriminating exhibits.
DSP Daniel Ndukwe, the police public relations officer (PPRO), said in an Enugu statement on Thursday, December 15, that the suspects believed to be among the criminals instilling fear in the residents were arrested between December 1 and December 6.
According to PM News, Ndukwe stated that the achievement was made possible by the current operational and crime-fighting measures put in place by the state’s Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ahmed Ammani.
He stated that the commissioner had directed police officers to keep up the pace in ridding the state of unrepentant criminals.
According to the PPRO, on December 6 at around 9.30 a.m., police operatives from the Anti-Cultism Squad arrested Ifeanyi Ngene, 36, at Akwuke in Enugu’s Awkunanaw axis.
According to a police spokesman, one AK-47 rifle with 51 live 7.62 caliber cartridges, one Pump Action gun with 25 live cartridges, and two AK-47 rifle magazines were recovered from Ngene’s illegal possession.
According to him, one senior police officer’s cloth, three black military belts, two forest guards’ inscribed black berets, and two walkie-talkies were also recovered from Ngene.
