Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang has attributed Nigeria’s current economic challenges to the previous administration led by former President Muhammadu Buhari. Speaking during the swearing-in of 22 special advisers and heads of government agencies at the Government House in Jos, the governor claimed that Buhari’s decisions ruined the economy, leaving it in poor shape for his successor, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Mutfwang argued that Tinubu inherited the worst-performing economy in Nigeria since the country’s democratic experiment started in 1999, and accused Buhari of selling Nigeria’s future by regular borrowing. He further blamed Buhari for the hunger and widespread looting of warehouses and food stores across the country. Mutfwang also announced his administration’s plans to set up a special agro-processing zone in Barkin Ladi LGA in partnership with the African Development Bank with a budget of $300 million.
