Few days after the burial of the last Ooni of Ife Oba Okunade Sijuwade who died in a London hospital on 28 July 2015, the race to choose a successor has started.
Already various ruling houses in Ife are jostling to make sure their son clinches the coveted throne.
One of the prominent members of the a ruling house in Ife BARRISTER ADEDAMOLA ADEREMI paid a courtesy visit to former president Olusegun Obasanjo in his Ogun state residence on Sunday.
The reason for the meet was undisclosed as they met behind closed doors, however, tongues are wagging that the Ife prince went to the former president to discuss the selection of the next Ooni of Ife .
An Ife indigene by birth, popular journalist and founder of Ovation magazine accompanied him.
There are four ruling houses in Ile-Ife, namely Lafogido, Giesi, Ogbooru and Osinkola. The Ademiluyis are the main branch of the Osinkola dynasty.
While Oba Okunade Sijuwade is from the Ogboru ruling house, his predecessor, Oba Adesoji Aderemi, was from Giesi ruling house, and Adedamola is a kin of late Oba Aderemi.
Can he become the next Oba or is he on a mission to canvass support for someone else from his ruling house?
