Kate Middleton is finally ready to give birth to a royal baby as she checked into St. Mary’s hospital with Prince William by her side early this morning.

The scene outside of St. Mary’s hospital, where the Duchess of Cambridge will give birth at the Lindo Wing, is quite a sight as media and paparazzi had camped outside in anticipation of the baby news.

Clarence House tweeted: “Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge has been admitted to St. Mary’s Hospital, Paddington, London in the early stages of labour.” A further tweet said, “The Duchess travelled by car from Kensington Palace to the Lindo Wing at St. Mary’s Hospital with The Duke of Cambridge.”

Hundreds of photographers have lined the streets of the hospital and broadcast media from all over the world prepare to take the first snapshot of the royal baby and the new parents.

Middleton arrived at the hospital at 5:30 a.m. this morning in a car with Prince William and security guards. Royal sources say that “Kate went into labour naturally and things are progressing well.”

The royal baby will become third in line to the throne, replacing Prince Harry. The baby will be given the title Prince or Princess and will become the future Queen or King of Britain.

The couple do not know the gender of the baby yet, and fans of the royal family have been guessing the possible names of the child.

Prince William and Prince Harry were both born in the same with of St. Mary’s hospital.

The Archbishop of Canterbury, the Most Rev Justin Welby, tweeted his excitement upon the news of Middleton going into labour. “My thoughts and prayers are with Kate and the whole family on this enormously special day.”

Prime Minister David Cameron said that today was a “very exciting occasion” for the nation and that the whole country is “hoping for the best.”

While journalists are camped outside of St. Mary’s hospital, tourists have also flocked to Buckingham Palace.

Queen Elizabeth will be the first to be informed of the birth
