Vice Admiral Awwal Zubairu Gambo, a retired officer of the Nigerian Navy, served as the Chief of Naval Staff from January 2021 to June 2023.
Born on April 22, 1966, in Kano State, Gambo joined the Nigerian Navy in 1984, specializing in Underwater Warfare with a subspecialty in Intelligence.
