Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has reiterated his belief that the pathway to a prosperous Nigeria lies in fostering a new generation of responsible and visionary leaders. Obi articulated this vision following an interactive session with students of Madonna University, Okija, Anambra State, which he later shared on his Facebook page.
During his engagement with the students, the former Anambra State governor noted that their questions profoundly reflected the widespread frustrations among Nigerian youth concerning prevalent poor governance and systemic corruption. These issues, he observed, have significantly hindered young people from realizing their full potential and opportunities within the nation.
Despite the existing challenges, Obi expressed encouragement by the palpable optimism and determination of the students to actively contribute to national development. He underscored that leadership remains the most critical factor determining a nation’s progress, emphasizing that effective leaders must embody character, competence, capacity, and compassion. Crucially, such leaders must also demonstrate a willingness to make personal sacrifices for the greater good of the populace.
Obi’s Blueprint for National Development
Obi further elaborated on his vision for Nigeria’s future, stating that it hinges on leaders who are unwavering in their commitment to protecting lives, making substantial investments in education, vigorously creating economic opportunities, and diligently building robust national institutions.
“Together, by raising a new generation of responsible and visionary leaders, we can build the Nigeria of our dreams that is Possible,” Obi affirmed, highlighting a collective effort towards realizing a better future for the nation.
