The Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD) stated that N218billion would be needed to clear the pension arrears at once.

General secretary of NUP, Elder Actor Zal, said in a statement released in Abuja yesterday that the federal government should, therefore, release the money to enable PTAD clear all the arrears.

“The federal government should release the sum of N218 billion needed by Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD) to clear all those backlog of unpaid pension at once,” Elder Zal said.

The union commended the release of the bailout by the federal government, but appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to direct the state governments to also settle all pensioners owed from the bailout.
