Pastor Paul Adefarasin has stated that although he prays Nigeria never experiences a full-blown war, he is personally prepared should the country ever reach that point.
His comments follow a wave of violent attacks and abductions carried out by bandits across various regions incidents that have drawn growing international attention.
Adefarasin Speaks on Rising Insecurity
Addressing concerns over Nigeria’s increasing security tensions, Adefarasin described the nation as one of the battlegrounds in a broader global confrontation between competing civilisations.
While expressing hope that Nigeria avoids conflict, he acknowledged that he is ready if the situation escalates. He also noted that ongoing diplomatic efforts may help eradicate terrorism permanently, although such success would require strategic intelligence and strong negotiation skills.
Calls for Caution in Dealing With Terror Groups
Despite supporting dialogue as a tool for peace, Adefarasin made it clear that negotiating with terrorists is not a strategy he endorses.
Context of His Remarks
His comments come amid heightened fear over renewed terror attacks, increasing kidnappings, and widespread debates about Nigeria’s readiness to confront worsening security threats.
His Statement
He said:
“I certainly hope that Nigeria doesn’t have to go to war, but I’m ready for it. Can’t discuss those things because there is still dialogue going on and it is two civilizations globally fighting, Nigeria is just one of the fronts. I hope the dialogue works and expunge terrorism from Nigeria perpetually. It is going to take a lot of brain and negotiation, but I really don’t think you should negotiate with terrorists.”
