Prominent Nigerian social media critic Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has made a passionate appeal to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and national security authorities. He is urging immediate intervention to secure the release of dozens of schoolchildren and teachers abducted in Oyo State, following the emergence of a distressing new video from captivity.
The victims, who were taken from Community High School, Ahoro-Esinle, on May 15, 2026, have now spent over three weeks in the custody of their abductors. The crisis has taken a dramatic turn with a direct plea from the school’s principal, shedding new light on what the captors actually want.
The Kidnappers’ Sole Demand Revealed
In a newly surfaced video that has sent shockwaves across social media, Rachael Alamu, the abducted principal of the school, spoke directly to the public and the federal government. Visibly distressed, Alamu urged officials not to “play politics” with their lives and to prioritize dialogue to secure their safe release.
Crucially, the principal debunked several rumors circulating online regarding the kidnappers’ motives. Contrary to widespread speculation, Alamu clarified that the abductors are not demanding ransom money, weapons, or the implementation of Sharia law. Instead, their sole demand is the release of specific individuals currently held in government correctional facilities.
VDM Reaches Out to President Tinubu
Reacting to the heartbreaking footage, social media activist VeryDarkMan took to his platform to send an emotional distress call to President Tinubu and top security agencies. He argued that the government must explore all viable diplomatic options, including prisoner exchanges if necessary, to guarantee the safe return of the captive children and educators.
According to VDM, the lives of innocent citizens must outweigh political considerations, and swift action is required before the situation deteriorates further.
The critic emphasized that the vulnerability of the children in the forest requires urgent, compassionate leadership. His public outcry has reignited intense conversations online regarding Nigeria’s security challenges and the government’s approach to resolving hostage situations.
Growing Pressure on the Presidency
As the days count down, public pressure continues to mount on the presidency and security agencies to bring the Oyo school abduction to a peaceful end. The revelation that the kidnappers are seeking a prisoner swap rather than financial compensation presents a complex challenge for the administration, but advocates insist that saving the lives of the students remains the ultimate priority.
