Controversial singer Naira Marley is facing fresh backlash for taking a swipe at his late ex-signee, Mohbad, in a newly released song by Zinoleesky.
Recently, Mohbad’s first remembrance was marked, a year after his untimely death, with no conclusive results from the investigation into his passing.
In the song titled “Abanikanda,” featuring Naira Marley, the Marlian Records boss made a comment that many critics found insensitive.
Naira Marley, who has been named a suspect in Mohbad’s case, made a controversial statement in the song, referring to the late singer as an ‘opposition’ or ‘enemy’ who should remain in the casket.
“Leave that opp boy inna casket,” he rapped.
The lyric sparked outrage among Mohbad’s fans, who condemned Naira Marley for his insensitivity and for seemingly taunting his ex-signee even after his death.
One user on X, @Veekaysss, wrote, “This is enough evidence to declare them killers of Mohbad, but this is Nigeria💔.” Another user, @topetyez_, added, “He didn’t have to say that line at all, honestly very unnecessary.”
