Saheed Osupa sparked reactions after publicly criticising Seyi Makinde during a live performance at a political event in Ibadan.
The incident took place on April 17, 2026, during the governorship declaration of Sharafadeen Alli in Yemetu. The event, organised by supporters of the All Progressives Congress, attracted party members, stakeholders, and entertainers.
While performing, Osupa shifted into political commentary, openly endorsing Alli as his preferred candidate for the 2027 governorship election in Oyo State.
He criticised the “Omituntun 3.0” slogan associated with Makinde’s administration, arguing that it had not delivered tangible results for residents. During his remarks, he used the Yoruba term “onijibiti,” widely interpreted as a direct jab at the governor, which stirred mixed reactions among attendees.
Osupa went on to urge the crowd not to support any candidate connected to the current administration, instead encouraging them to back Alli. His comments quickly transformed the atmosphere from entertainment to a more politically charged moment.
The video of the performance has since gone viral, with many analysing his statements and reactions from the crowd. While some supporters cheered his stance, others appeared surprised by the boldness of his remarks.
Throughout his performance, the Fuji star repeatedly praised Alli, describing him as the leader he believes can move Oyo State forward, and called on supporters to unite behind him ahead of the 2027 election.
