The Osun State Police Command has formally summoned Senator Francis Fadahunsi, representing Osun East, over controversial remarks allegedly inciting violence ahead of the upcoming gubernatorial election. The federal lawmaker is under scrutiny for reportedly directing supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to violently target members of the opposition Accord Party.

Details of the Controversial Campaign Video

The police invitation stems from a widely circulated social media video capturing Fadahunsi speaking in Yoruba during an APC campaign rally in Ilesa. In the footage, the senator allegedly issued the threatening directives, sparking widespread concern over potential electoral violence ahead of the Saturday, August 15 governorship poll.

Police Demand Clarification

In an official letter dated August 11, 2026, signed by the Commissioner of Police for Elections in Osun State, Samuel Etaifo Erale, the command requested Fadahunsi’s presence to clarify his statements. The senator was instructed to report to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Osogbo at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, August 12.
