Super Eagles defender Kenneth Omeruo will not be part of the Super Eagles clash with Flames of Malawi in the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifying match on September 7.

The Chelsea signing underwent a keyhole surgery for a shoulder problem at a Chelsea private clinic in London on Wednesday and has been ruled out of action for the next eight weeks, implying that he will not only miss the Malawi clash in Calabar but also other important matches that are in the offing.

Omeruo’s adviser, Chika Conleth Akujobi, confirmed to MTNFootball.com that “Kenneth has undergone surgery for his shoulder problem today (Wednesday).

“I spoke to him before he went into the theatre, he’s in good hands because that is one of the best hospitals for such surgery.”

Omeruo wounded his shoulder during the FIFA Confederations Cup in Brazil and was treated but it got worse during training at Chelsea recently.

Omeruo returned to Chelsea after a loan spell at Dutch club ADO Den Haag.

Manager Jose Mourinho is expected to take a decision on the 19-year-old central defender, whether to let him go on a loan deal in England or stay at Stamford Bridge.
