Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, is set to lead a massive gathering of female political stakeholders in Abuja as the All Progressives Congress, APC, begins to ramp up its grassroots mobilization efforts ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
The event, titled the Women Stakeholders Mobilisation and Empowerment Pre-Inaugural Campaign Roll-Out, is organized by the Women Mobilisation Directorate of the APC Presidential Campaign Council. Expected to draw more than 20,000 women from across the country, the summit will take place at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja.
Running under the theme “Renewed Hope Agenda 2.0: From Reforms to Prosperity,” the political rally carries the official campaign slogan, “One Voice, One Movement, One Choice, One Mandate 2027.”
Targeting 40 Million Votes for Tinubu-Shettima Ticket
The APC women mobilization wing has set an ambitious target of securing 40 million votes from the female electorate to guarantee victory for President Bola Tinubu and Vice-President Kashim Shettima in the 2027 general elections. Dr. Betta Edu, the director of the mobilization unit, confirmed the target ahead of the Abuja summit, noting that the party is aggressively expanding its grassroots outreach nationwide.
The gathering will serve as a platform for female leaders, business owners, professionals, community advocates, and political organizers to discuss greater female representation in governance and review the achievements of the current administration.
Showcasing Government Achievements and Reforms
A key strategist for the campaign planning committee, Princess Gloria Akobundu, stated that the summit will highlight various welfare and development programmes initiated by the federal government. She argued that the positive impact of these policies on education, infrastructure, social protection, and consumer finance justifies the call for a second term for President Tinubu.
Among the key initiatives to be highlighted is the Nigerian Education Loan Fund, NELFUND, which offers interest-free financial support to students in tertiary institutions. According to recent data, NELFUND has processed over 1.6 million applications, with total disbursements reaching N372.62 billion. Out of this, N192.89 billion has been paid directly to academic institutions, while N179.73 billion has been distributed to students as essential upkeep allowances.
Infrastructure, Consumer Credit, and Welfare Interventions
In addition to educational loans, the APC campaign will showcase CREDICORP, a government-backed development finance institution designed to improve access to consumer credit for middle-income and working-class Nigerians. The agency aims to reach half of the country’s workforce by the year 2030, with credit facilities tailored for home improvement, personal needs, and renewable energy.
The administration’s infrastructure achievements will also take center stage, featuring major projects such as the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, the Sokoto-Badagry Super Highway, and the Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria-Kano Road. Currently, more than 2,700 kilometers of major highways are undergoing construction or rehabilitation across Nigeria.
To support vulnerable households, the federal government is scaling up its social safety nets. Along with the newly launched NG-CARES, SOLID, and HOPE initiatives, plans are underway for a 1 billion dollar Renewed Hope Social Protection Programme to help lift low-income families out of poverty.
Call to Action for South-East Mobilization
As political activities intensify across the country, Akobundu urged women in the South-East region, particularly in Imo State, to strengthen their local organizing structures. She emphasized the importance of delivering the “Renewed Hope” message to every ward and community to ensure a unified front ahead of the 2027 polls.
