Wale Adedayo, the chairman of the Ijebu-East Local Government (LG), who was recently impeached, is purportedly in custody at his home in Ijebu-Ife, Ogun State.
According to Naija News, Adebayo was detained on Monday by members of the Ogun State Police Command.
Remember that the impeached Local Government Chairman had charged the Gov. Dapo Abiodun-led administration with misusing funds for the Local Government.
Adebayo claimed that since 2021, the state administration had tampered with money that the federal government had provided to the state’s local governments (LGs) via it.
His charges had prompted the LG councilors to impeach him over claims of money embezzlement.

The impeached LG Chairman’s wife, Kafayat Adedayo, confirmed his arrest and added that roughly 10 policemen from the Police Command headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta, were responsible for the arrest.
She claimed that the police officers told her that the state government had filed a petition calling for his arrest.
They arrived on Monday afternoon in a Mitsubishi sedan to carry out his arrest, according to Kafayat. Four of them were wearing uniforms, and the rest were dressed in muftis.
“The police officers said that they were following orders based on a petition that the state government had filed against him.
“The police took him to Abeokuta.”
When reached, CP Abiodun Alamutu, the state’s police commissioner, verified Adedayo’s detention.
