Popular Nigerian content creator and comedian Jubril Oladapo Gbadamosi, professionally known as Officer Woos, has broken his silence following a viral social media rumor linking him to the alleged demise of his longtime friend and colleague, Broda Shaggi.
The controversy ignited after a misleading post began circulating on X (formerly Twitter). An anonymous user shared a photograph of Broda Shaggi alongside a false claim that Officer Woos had announced the comedian’s passing on his official Instagram account. The post quickly gathered traction, sparking panic among fans of both entertainers.
Officer Woos and His Legal Team React
Refusing to let the malicious rumors slide, Officer Woos took to his Instagram Story to share a screenshot of the offending post, flagging it as fake news. To ensure the matter was handled with the gravity it deserved, the comedian’s legal representatives, Versed Attorneys, issued an official statement on Saturday.
The legal team vehemently denied the claims, describing the viral post as entirely false, malicious, and defamatory. They emphasized that Officer Woos has never announced the death of any colleague, friend, or associate on any of his digital platforms, warning social media users against spreading unverified and damaging stories.
A History of False Rumours
This is not the first time the popular comedy duo has had to contend with bizarre online falsehoods. Just a few months ago, separate rumors alleged that Broda Shaggi had been shot while filming in the Sango-Ota area of Ogun State—a claim that was quickly debunked.
Similarly, Officer Woos previously had to address a fabricated report claiming he had been arrested for drug transportation. Both creators have continuously urged their followers and the public to verify sensitive information before sharing it online, as fake news continues to pose a threat to the reputations of public figures.
