Popular rapper Tochukwu Ojogwu, famously known as Odumodublvck, sparked controversy online after boldly declaring that Barcelona’s young star Lamine Yamal is a better player than Argentine football legend Lionel Messi.
This statement followed Yamal’s outstanding performance during Barcelona’s dramatic 3-2 victory over Real Madrid in the Copa del Rey final, where he provided two key assists.
Taking to his X (formerly Twitter) account, Odumodublvck showered praise on Yamal’s impressive skills, claiming the teenager’s current abilities surpass those of Messi at the same age.
According to the rapper, Messi, during his teenage years, was not as extraordinary as Yamal is now.
He wrote:
“Yamal is better than Lionel Messi. Na me, Kala, talk am.
At 17, Messi wasn’t operating at this level. I witnessed it live. Nobody can convince me otherwise.”
Fans react to Odumodublvck’s bold statement:
-
@thebigdammy commented: “Cole Palmer is better than both of them.”
-
@fcbharrison replied: “Just enjoy Yamal. He’s not close to Messi. Messi had to fight for a spot against Ronaldinho, Eto’o, and Henry during his teenage years. Would Yamal have made it in that era? Just appreciate Yamal without comparing.”
-
@little_finger_c suggested: “Better phrased: Yamal at 17 is better than Messi at 17.”
-
@swagnito noted: “There’s a difference between individual and team achievements. Yamal may never win a Ballon d’Or at the age Messi did, and scoring 92 goals in a calendar year is another level.”
